Debra Inwald is the founder and principal of Works-in-Progress Associates (WPA) specializing in
providing all aspects of project management, development, and pre-development services to nonpfrofit
organizations. During her 25 years of
architectural experience in the private and public sectors, Ms. Inwald
saw the need to provide comprehensive project management and Owner's Representative services to
nonprofit organizations. WPA targets those needs in project conceptualization and budget formulation for
funding, and provides service in consultant procurement, in-house construction oversight, and post occupancy
assistance for nonprofit organizations.

Ms. Inwald's expertise in the nonprofit sector has made her firm essential for city and state funding
requests, community and organizational needs assessments, and capital project management. WPA is also
sought after for conducting workshops and seminars on project management for the nonprofit sector.
Ms. Inwald is commencing her third year as Chair of the New York Technical Assistance Providers Network.
She is a board member of the Alliance for Nonprofit Governance, and a member of Professional Women in Construction.

She received her master's degree in Architecture from Columbia University and her B.A. and B.S. in
Architecture from The University of Michigan. She taught at Columbia University and Jamaica Center for Arts
& Learning and has been a member of design juries at universities in New York and San Francisco.

Ms. Inwald spent the early part of her career working for internationally recognized architectural firms such as
Skidmore Owings & Merrill and CRS Serine. She has since worked in the public and nonprofit sectors beginning with
the New York City Division of Design and Construction. Ms. Inwald currently works for her own firm bringing together
staff that share the mission of serving the nonprofit sector with excellence and dedication. WPA has worked on over 60
projects in the last 10 years.
